K.K.Raja was one of the famous poet belonging to kumarapuram Palace of Thalappilly Royal families. His Famous Poem “Baashpanjali” holds a significant position among legendary elegies in Malayalam as like “Prarodanam” of Sri. Kumaranasaan,”Kannuneerthulli” of Sri. Naalappattu Narayana Menon etc. This Elegy differs from others as this written on the demise of an intimate, unlike others which were crafted on the death of nearest relatives or teachers.
This famous lyrics “Baashpanjali” were written on demise of Ashtavaidyan Pazhanellippurath Thaikat Unni Mooss which affected Sri.K.K.Raja very deeply. Sri. Unni Mooss, the founder of SNA Oushadhasala who left for heavenly abodein at a tender age of 27. “Baashpanjali” was also included in the academic curriculum of Kerala University as a text book.
